Political commentary

I am an avid listener of Air America Radio, listening to the high brow-low brow humor of Stephanie Miller every morning, and the incomparable Randi Rhodes in the afternoon. Stephanie makes me laugh, and Randi wakes up my anger - not at her, but at the current state of American politics.

During yesterday's afternoon drive, Randi spent an hour talking with Dennis Kucinich, who ran for the Democratic candidacy for President in 2004. What a brilliant man. I voted for him in the primary, based on his anti-war stance, but I had no idea how deeply his beliefs run. He has obviously read the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and believes in non-violent approaches to conflict resolution. He also speaks of the force of change needing to begin within -- the microcosm will lead to the macrocosm. He is an inspirational speaker. Just listen to some of his speeches on his or Randi's website! We need more people like him in our leadership. We need more people who believe there is another path, one that does not include war or economic hegemony or the curtailing of civil liberties. We need more people who are willing to stand up and speak Truth to power.

Have a look at some of the bills and projects he is working on now.

And please, get out and vote in November! Our lives depend on it.
